Why I set up this blog is to allow people to share their
mix tapes with other people around the globe. I thought it would be interesting
to see what other people put on their mix tapes and get the reasons why.
This has two main purposes, first it gives an insight
into why people like certain tracks, second it lets me find new pieces of music
I may not have listened to previously.
What inspired me to make this blog was I quite often
listen to music on the TV and quite often the big music channels do things like
top 100 power ballads. This is fine but some of the track choices really
surprise me and I find myself screaming at the TV “Nooooooo” as the spice girls
start to play, no offence to the spice girls but they are as close to a power
ballad as Metallica are to opera.
Finally I was looking around at people with their MP3
players and smart phones thinking people just don’t make mix tapes like we used
to 20 years ago, we only had 45 minutes a side to cram as many good tracks as
possible, or when we were dragged to CD, 80 minutes. Now we can just make a
playlist which goes on forever…
Please create your playlist and e-mail it to me and I
will publish on the site, I only ask for a short description and between 10-15
tracks, oh and give it a catchy title. You can pick songs which mean something
to you or remind you of something or try and be creative and give it a theme.
